Valentine’s Day–order your tastes

January 25th, 2010 — 12:09 pm

vday2

Valentine’s Day is a day to celebrate love. Many people begin this day with roses and end with a romantic dinner. On the other hand, many people also begin this day in panic (the man who forgot…again) faced by an incredulous expression (the woman who thinks, he forgot…again!). They typically end this day with a heart shaped box of overpriced, terrible chocolate candies.

In order to join the ranks of the former, rather than the latter, we’re here to provide some great suggestions and three weeks notice.

TASTES that will make YOU BOTH SMILE:

-A medley of twice baked almond croissants, maple walnut scones and delectable morning pastries (served in bed on Valentine’s Day morning, of course)

-Chocolate Caramel Cake (the layers of caramel and ganache will make you fall in love all over again. this time with a cake!)

-Flourless Chocolate Torte (your gluten free, vegan partner will thank you endlessly for this chocolate lovers dessert.)

-Red Velvet cupcakes topped high with cream cheese frosting (red–the color of love and delicious cupcakes…)

Breakfast tastes should be paired with a mimosa. Chocolate tastes should be paired with a Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah or Port.  Red Velvet cupcakes or Carrot Cake might best be served with a Riesling.

If you need help with finding your wine, just ask. We sell some fantastic wines by the bottle!

There you are…the key to instant Valentine’s Day success. Just don’t forget to buy flowers!

most popular tastes

January 15th, 2010 — 11:06 am

At TASTE we have several different kinds of diners. We have the cookie monsters, those patrons that come in every week to indulge in one or two of Hannah’s secret recipe cookies. There are the DOMA and a pastry variety, the patron who comes to TASTE for their morning pick me-up and a little something extra since the case is pretty irressitible. Our lunch crowd–a healthy mixture of soup lovers, those who can’t get enough of our taste salad sampler, those who love a hot Brian’s special panini and those who get a hankering for our pot pies and lasagna (they come to the cafe in hoards on a cold day).

So, here are our most popular tastes at TASTE. If you can’t decide what to eat–go for the these items, if there are left, that is!

TASTE was featured in Spokane Sizzle magazine!

chapsgirls_cover_ss10

Our review can be found in the Recent Openings section of Spokane Sizzle on page 15.

Check out what they said:

The mother-daughter duo of Jane Heber (owner) and Hannah Heber (head pastry chef) has transplated their passion for fresh and seasonal ingredients from their previous location in Laguna Beach to the heart of the Inland Northwest. At Taste Cafe & Gourmet To Go, they offer French croissants to English scones and tea cakes, to lunch favorites such as hot sausage rolls, fisherman’s pie and Cornish pasties. Taste is most definitely tasty. Located at 180 S. Howard St., come and taste what Taste truly is. (509) 468-2929

Thank you Spokane Sizzle!
