It has been a busy few weeks at Taste!

Just some updates on what we’re up to inside and outside of the kitchen:
About a week ago we catered a baby shower in a private home on South Hill for 36 guests. We served up tasty appetizers before the meal and later guests dined on veggie and meat lasagnas, as well as a salad of field greens, shaved asparagus, gorgonzola crumbles and Taste signature spicy walnuts to complement! Dessert was tailored to the many different tastes of our guests with a host of chocolate, carrot cake and coconut cupcakes. YUM! We are pleased to announce that our guests enjoyed their meal in addition to the sweets to top it off! What a fun event to cater! Everyone (from the caterers to our two charming servers) had a great time serving up some Taste to our guests!
We also shared a little Taste with the local news. Taste Cafe was blessed with the opportunity to feed the Early Morning Show at KXLY with some yummy pastries and salads. A few days after we dropped off the goodies, Mark Peterson stopped by Taste to return the dishes…apparently they had enjoyed every last crumb! Definitely newsworthy compliments for the kitchen at Taste.

Taste Cafe & Gourmet To Go…beautiful cupcakes ala Hannah
We hope you have gotten the opportunity to come to Taste Cafe on 180 S Howard and share in our passion for food. After opening this past January, we have had the pleasure of introducing our sweet and savory bites to the Spokane community. It’s been busy at the cafe, but quite the adventure as well!
For those of you who don’t know much about Taste…here’s a brief bit of background information about our cafe:
The owners of Taste are the dynamic mother-daughter duo, Jane and Hannah Heber. Jane oversees the business end of things, as well as the creation of Taste’s delicious salads, sandwiches, soups, paninis and hot specials prepared from scratch daily. Hannah heads up the sweeter side of things as Taste’s pastry chef. She is the one in the back kitchen creating amazing pastries, homemade desserts, specialty cakes to order and fresh cookies throughout the day.
These California girls (well, Jane is originally from England, but nonetheless they have spent a good amount of time in the sunshine state) fell in love with Spokane and it’s possibilities during a trip to visit family. They knew that Spokane was ready for the kind of restaurants they had frequented in San Francisco and Laguna Beach. Since then Hannah, a former member of the corporate world at Williams Sonoma, attended the Inland Northwest Culinary Academy to become a pastry chef. The sweet recipes are hers, while Jane has contributed a number of English recipes from her mother, in addition to her own savory creations. And I guess the rest…is Taste history. You’ll just have to taste to believe!
So, keep updated with Taste Cafe on our new taste buds blog. We will update you with new additions to the menu, weekly specials, fun events (such as the grown-up grilled cheese grill off that took place earlier this month) , and well…all that good foodie news. Oh and please keep the comments coming. We’d love to know what you are craving, what Taste can do for you, or any tips you might have.
Ciao! Time to get back to the kitchen!
Hope to see you soon at Taste and remember if you’re in a hurry call us for some gourmet to go!
